Editor, Proofreader, Blog Manager
Shiela graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Literature. With over five years of copyediting experience, she is exposed to a vast breadth of written genres and has mastered the Chicago style of editing, one of the most comprehensive editing style guides in the world. With her sharp eye for detail on technical matters of the written word and passion for great stories, she’s worked with both first-time and established authors from all walks of life — war veterans, 9/11 witnesses, cancer survivors, victims of abuse; pastors, missionaries, teachers, and parents — to help them make their stories come alive.
Being a missionary to the youth for 12 years has honed her ability to lead people and speak in front of large audiences at leadership workshops both locally and internationally. Her involvement with home-building not-for-profits and World Vision demonstrates her natural ability to interpret stories and mould them into something meaningful.
At Step Change, she works with brands from start-ups to scale-ups to the well-known ones to ensure that their messaging comes out clear, consistent, and error-free across their collaterals. She reviews over 60 marketing and strategy documents a month, helping Step Change produce only first-class outputs internally and for their clients. She also manages and contributes to the Step Change blog.
On the weekends, you’ll probably find Shiela up and about, finding the next best coffee shop in town or training for the next ultramarathon.
